Day 1 Arrive Delhi
Arrive Delhi. Meeting and assistance on arrival. Transfer to your hotel.
Overnight stay in Delhi.
Day 2 Delhi
Proceed on a morning tour of Old Delhi visiting Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana – the cremation sites of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru. Also visit the Jama Masjid (Big Mosque). Drive past the imposing Red Fort and continue onwards through the busy, bustling Chandni Chowk or Street of Silver.
Afternoon, take a tour of New Delhi starting at the Qutub Minar or Tower of Victory, built by Qutub-ud-Din Aibek in 1199. Visit Humayun’s Tomb, India Gate (the War Memorial Arch) and Lakshminarayan Temple – a modern Hindu Temple. Also drive past President’s House, Parliament House, the Government Secretariat Buildings and Connaught Place – the dynamic heart of downtown Delhi.
Overnight stay in Delhi.
Day 3 Delhi – Jaipur
Morning: drive to Jaipur (260 Kms., 5 Hrs.) On arrival check in at hotel. Afternoon tour of Jaipur. Jaipur – the capital of Rajasthan was given a colour coat of pink a century ago in honour of a visiting Prince. And ever since, it has retained this colour. Built by Maharaja Jai Singh, the notable astronomer, this city is 260 years old. Visit the Maharaja’s City Palace, the Observatory and Ram Niwas Gardens. Drive past Hawa Mahal (the Palace of Winds) and through the rose-pink residential and business quarters.
Overnight is at Jaipur.
Day 4 Jaipur
Morning: visit the rugged, 8th century Amber Fort located on a hilltop overlooking the surrounding country-side. Ride an elephant to the main entrance of the fort at the crest of the hill. Amber Fort was the ancient capital of the erstwhile royal State of Jaipur. Once inside the Fort, visit the Sheesh Mahal or the Hall of Victory, glittering with mirrors. Spend time exploring the imposing ramparts and historical nooks within.
The rest of the day is free for independent activities.
Return to your hotel for the night.
Day 5 Jaipur – Agra
Drive to Agra (245 Kms., 6 Hrs.) visiting the ancient deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri, enroute. Fatehpur Sikri is 40 kms., from Agra and was built by the Mughal Emperor, Akbar, in 1569. It was abandoned 15 years later, due to a severe scarcity of water. Explore the graceful buildings within this remarkably well-preserved historical complex, including the tomb of Sufi saint, Salim Chisti, the Jama Masjid, the Panch Mahal and other palaces. Thereafter, continue driving to Agra.
Upon arrival, the rest of the day is free.
Overnight is at the hotel.
Day 6 Agra – Delhi
Morning: visit the world-famous Taj Mahal built by the Mughal Emperor Shahjehan in 1630, to enshrine the mortal remains of his beloved Queen, Mumtaz Mahal. Later, visit the Agra Fort containing the Pearl Mosque, the Halls of Public and Private Audience and more. Also visit the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daullah, built by Empress Noorjehan in memory of her father.
Afternoon: drive to Delhi (205 Kms., 3 Hrs.)
On arriving Delhi, drive directly to the Indira Gandhi International Airport to board a flight for your onward journey.
