Bordered by the Arabian Sea in the west, the Western Ghats towering 500-2700 mtrs., in the east and crisscrossed by 44 rivers, Kerala enjoys unique geographical features that have made it one of the most irresistible tourist destinations in Asia.

An equable climate.  A long shoreline, with serene beaches. Tranquil stretches of emerald backwaters.  Lush hill stations and exotic wildlife.  Waterfalls.  Sprawling plantations and paddy fields.  Dotted with Ayurvedic health resorts.  Enchanting art forms.  Magical festivals.  Historic and cultural monuments.  An exotic cuisine.

All of these combine to offer the visitor a unique experience.  And what's more, every one of these charming locations in Kerala is a mere two hours' drive from the other.  A singular advantage that no other destination offers.

Itinerary
Day 1 :  Arrive Cochin
Cochin is home to one of the World's most beautiful ports.  It also has several quaint spots including Jew Town, where the Jews arrived as early as 52 AD from Yemen and Babylon. Half the fun of visiting Cochin is getting out on the local ferries.  It has on offer: palaces, forts, beaches, backwaters, old churches, snake boat races, Kathakali, Museums and the convenience of the big city.

Meeting and assistance is provided by our representative on arrival at Cochin's airport.  Therafter, transfer to your hotel.  The rest of the day is at leisure.

Overnight is at the hotel.

Day 2 :  Cochin
Enjoy an early breakfast and proceed to visit the major attractions of Cochin, including the old Dutch Bolgatty Palace, the Jewish Synagogue, St. Francis Church, the cantilevered, Chinese fishing nets that line the seaside, amongst others. In the evening, choose to go wild on a shopping extravaganza.  Overnight is at hotel.

Day 3 :  Cochin - Backwaters (Alleppey)
Today, after breakfast, proceed to Alleppey (180 km., 5 hrs.) and check-in at your Houseboat (Kettuvellom) to enjoy a leisurely cruise through the famous backwaters of Kerala.  Spend the next 24 hours cruising in serene luury.  Get a first hand glimpse of Kerala's unique village lifestyle from close quarters.  Overnight is on the Houseboat and includes all three meals i.e. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 4 :  Alleppey - Kovalam Beach
After breakfast, checkout of the houseboat and drive onwards to Kovalam Beach.  Check-in at hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy relaxing and soaking up the sun on Kovalam Beach.

Kovalam means "grove of coconut trees" from the coconut trees along the beaches that give it the name.

The palm-fringed bays and secluded coconut groves, promise a relaxed stay. The boundless blue waters of the Arabian Sea, miles of glistening white sand washed by the surf,  the stalwart palms and rocky promontories, makes this beach a paradise.  This marvellous beach is a tourist's dream come true.

Kovalam is a sheltered natural bay with cool soothing palms and gentle waves.  When you are tired of aquatic sports, swimming or sunbathing, you can explore the handicrafts, jewelery and cloth shops that line the waterfront.  Delightful sea-food, including lobsters are enticingly available at the many beach-side restaurants.

The crescent-shaped beaches of Kovalam can be divided into three parts. The southern most beach, and the most popular, is the Lighthouse Beach. Further south on the beach one can have a spectacular view of the Vizhinzam mosque. Photography is prohibited here.

The middle beach is called Hawah. Each morning this beach acts as a base for the local fisherman. The northern most beach, Samudra, is least affected of all by the changing times.  It is dotted with few rudimentary wooden fishing vessels.

In the evening the quiet atmosphere of the place is enlivened by Kathakali performances, the classical dance-drama of Kerala.  This mellow Kerala coastal village was once a picturesque settlement built next to two palm-fringed coves enclosed by rocky headlands, but development has been almost unplanned.

Overnight at hotel.

Day 5 :  Kovalam - Trivandrum
After breakfast, drive to nearby Trivandrum, 11 kms., from Kovalam and check-in at hotel.  Later, proceed on a tour of the city visiting the Museum Complex, the Padmanabha Swamy Temple,  the Science and Technology Museum, the Veli Tourist village, Aakulam boat club and Shangmugham Beach.

Overnight at hotel.

Day 6 :  Leave Trivandrum
After breakfast, transfer to the airport in time to board your onward flight.
